The Bangladesh cricket team’s tour of Pakistan has officially been confirmed, putting to rest the uncertainty surrounding the series. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday that instead of the originally scheduled five matches, a three-match T20I series will be held — all to be played in Lahore, with dates to be revealed shortly.
The breakthrough came after an extended meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Abedeen and President Farooq Ahmed. Both boards agreed to move forward positively, overcoming earlier concerns related to logistics and regional tensions.
Strengthening Bilateral Cricket Ties
This series is being hailed as a significant step toward strengthening cricketing relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi thanked the BCB leadership for their continued support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to hosting international cricket despite recent challenges.
The series faced some initial uncertainty due to:
- Rising India-Pakistan border tensions
- Mid-season postponement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)
- Logistical complexities and security assessments
As a result, the five-match T20I series initially scheduled to begin on May 25 in Faisalabad has now been trimmed to three matches, all at a single venue for smoother management.
Leadership and Squad Updates
Litton Das, the experienced wicketkeeper-batter, will lead the Bangladesh side after being officially appointed as T20I captain earlier this year. Mahedi Hasan, an off-spinner, has been named vice-captain for both the UAE and Pakistan tours.
Revised Bangladesh T20I Squad for UAE & Pakistan:
- Litton Das (captain)
- Tanzid Hasan
- Parvez Hossain
- Soumya Sarkar
- Najmul Hossain Shanto

- Jaker Ali
- Rishad Hossain
- Mahedi Hasan (vice-captain)
